Things I’ve Learned from Lately #149
“Things I’ve Learned from Lately” is a regular compilation of articles that have made me a smarter marketer. Hopefully, they’ll help you, too.
Making Change Through Stories - Stories have incredible power. They not only captivate audiences, they also have the power to make change happen. This long but good read shows the power of stories in a chaotic world.
Take My Data - The old saying that if you aren’t paying for it, you’re the product has rang truer than ever over recent weeks. And what a product we are! We’re constantly giving platforms data. Pew Research found that 26% of Americans go online “almost constantly,” and 77% of us go online on a daily basis.
Your Phone is Calling - It’s not enough to stay off your phone. New research has found that simply having one’s phone nearby is enough to influence cognitive abilities. “They are constantly calling to us, exerting a gravitational pull on our attention."
A Cluttered Reality - Clutter. No matter what we do, it’s always there despite the apps, storage boxes, books and videos. This article looks at clutter’s role in our lives and the effect it can have on our psyche when we think about our ideal and compare that to our reality. “We’re all brainwashed to think we can work, take care of the kids, please our husbands, but you can’t do 15 things at the same time and also fight the clutter.”
You Don’t Want to Look - How much data does Facebook and Google have on you? Someone looked for themselves.
